Deputy Commissioner - Domestic Tax Department National Revenue Authority, Sierra Leone

Alfred Akibo-Betts is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants of the United Kingdom and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone. He holds a Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Alfred has considerable experience in the tax field as has worked at the Sierra Leone National Revenue Authority for over thirteen years, where he is now a Deputy Commissioner in the Domestic Tax Department. He started his tax career in the Large Taxpayers’ Office of the Income Tax Department and was also part of the initial management team of the Non-Tax Revenue Department.

Most notably, he was the focal person for the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax in Sierra Leone where as an Assistant Commissioner he worked with various stakeholders for the successful introduction of GST in 2010 during which time he gained skills in public relations and public speaking; negotiation and project management.

Alfred is a Trainer in Taxation, specifically Goods & Services Tax, Income Taxes and the Tax Administration Diagnostic Assessment Tool (TADAT).
